The 2013 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Au Dessous des Malconsorts comes from a 0.5-hectare parcel of vines en fermage that abut La Tâche. It has a well-defined bouquet with brambly black fruit laced with dried violet petals and black olive. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin and well-judged acidity. Not a complex premier cru and perhaps it is missing some matière toward the finish, but there is decent poise and a welcome touch of spice on the aftertaste.
