“Montrachet 2024” by Vincent Girardin is a wine produced during a challenging harvest year for Burgundy. Spring frosts, the threat of gray mold in the summer, and a cool, rainy growing season made careful selection of the grapes essential. Yields were lower throughout the Côte de Beaune. At the winery, Éric Germain’s team, striving to preserve the fruit’s flavor, carried out gentle pressing of the grapes; as in previous years, they used wild yeast for fermentation and limited the proportion of new barrels to one-third. Unlike the rich wines of 2022 and 2023, this year’s “Le Montrachet” promises to be more austere, with pronounced minerality. Enjoy this wine between 2028 and 2050.
