The 2024 Meursault Village Vieilles Vignes by Vincent Girardin is made from Chardonnay grapes grown on plots with old vines in the Meursault area; The grapes are harvested by hand, and fermentation takes place using wild yeast. “Village” white wines from this region are aged not in 228-liter barriques, but in 500-liter barrels, which helps to temper the influence of oak and highlight the nutty notes and minerality characteristic of Meursault. The head winemaker is Eric Germain; the winery’s style involves the restrained use of new oak barrels and places special emphasis on aging on the lees to give the wine a distinctive texture. Best enjoyed between 2025 and 2035.
