The 2012 Echezeaux Grand Cru is very delicate on the nose at first, shifts into fifth gear with modest aeration to reveal precise redcurrant, cranberry and dried rose petals scents. The palate is medium-bodied with candied orange peel lining the opening before it fans out with dark berry fruit laced with iodine and dab of cassis. Good structure here, though its compactness and solidity suggest that it will need several year’s cellaring.
