This is the finest Beychevelle since 1989. The dark ruby/purple color, and nicely integrated toasty oak, floral, and sweet, black currant aromas are attractive. The wine has put on some fat since I tasted it last year, exhibiting a supple, velvety-textured, moderately tannic, pure, elegant style that is typical of this property's top efforts.
Well-crafted red. Vivid blackberry and violet aromas and flavors. Full-bodied and very silky, with lovely tannins and a medium aftertaste of fruit and toasted oak.
Rene Gabriel rates this wine 17/20 points.
