Les Champs d'Argent, This is the only wine produced by Charles Lachaux from grapes grown by his own family, and this 2023 vintage is a Bourgogne Aligoté, made from grapes grown in the Vosne-Romanée commune in the Côte de Nuits region. This project began precisely with Aligoté, and this plot remains its foundation to this day.

The age of the vines is a crucial element in this history. One-quarter of the vines were planted in the 1930s, and the rest in the 1990s; as a result, both old and young branches are pressed together.

2023 was the warmest year in Burgundy's's history. A mild, wet winter and although there was limited damage during the frosty nights at the beginning of April, flowering proceeded smoothly, raising hopes for a bountiful harvest. It was precisely this bountiful harvest that became the real problem this year. Winegrowers were forced to carry out green harvesting, removing bunches while they were still unripe, and in some regions, they ended up discarding half of their harvest. The rain and cool weather at the end of July and the beginning of August gave way to the heat needed to complete ripening. As for white wines, since 2023 carried the risk of low acidity and high alcohol content, varieties like Aligoté, which naturally have a crisp, sharp flavor, are now worth paying special attention to.
