There's a muscular frame to this dense, deftly knit red, which offers a plush feel on the palate while supporting a generous range of cherry, plum sauce, olive and balsamico, plus rich hints of dark chocolate, singed alder and bay leaf. Fresh and poised, with pretty floral and spice notes wafting through the lasting finish. Best from 2025 through 2040.
A seducing nose of plums, dried herbs, cedar, mocha and cloves. Full-bodied with fine, firm tannins. Creamy on the center palate with structure and focus. Layered with a juicy touch of raspberries to the long, compact finish. Better after 2025.
Tasted blind. Ripe plum, clove, nutmeg. A wine of great depth and power on the nose. Compact palate, with high levels of freshness that adds dynamism and sustains the fruit. Lots of very well-worked and polished tannins. Very good balance between ripe fruit and oak. A complete Ribera del Duero. The great opulence and quality of the Anguix grapes.
The 2020 Astrales Christina is sourced from old Tempranillo vines in Anguix, Ribera del Duero. Dark garnet-red with a purplish sheen. The nose comes packed with cherry and plum, along with lesser notes of camphor oil, blood and wood. Dry on the palate, the mildly structural, crunchy tannins and juicy flow combine for a long-lasting, savory red. This is a rich, agile Ribera wine.
