This Sonoma County red wine is predominantly composed of Zinfandel, which makes up 69% of the blend, supported by 18% Petite Sirah, with the remainder consisting of Carignan and Mourvèdre. Some of the Petite Sirah vines located in Lytton Springs were planted in 1901, and this vineyard spans five different soil types, which partly explains its layered character.

2014 marked the third consecutive year of drought, with rainfall totaling just 18 inches, half the average annual amount. Rainfall during the flowering period in April led to a reduction in yield. August experienced consistently mild weather. The harvest was brought forward, beginning on the 14th of August in Anderson Valley.

Fermentation is carried out using natural yeast. Ridge Vineyards typically assembles the blend immediately after pressing, racks quarterly, and ages the wine in 20% new American oak barrels followed by bottle aging prior to release. The grapes are grown using sustainable methods. This winery was founded around 1959.

It can be enjoyed immediately. It is best enjoyed through 2032.
