Guado al Tasso Superiore 2022, Bolgheri, made by Antinori. Grown in the coastal region of Tuscany, where typical Bordeaux grapes, rather than Sangiovese, are the predominant varieties. The blend of Guado al Tasso 2022 include Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc (no Syrah), and the alluvial clay-sandy and clay-silty soils give the wine a firm yet not overly heavy structure. 2022 was a harsh year for Bolgheri. Starting with February, rainfall was scarce,, resulting in stunted vine growth; however, rain began to fall around the middle of August, and ripening resumed. The harvest began in the third week of August and continued until the end of September. Yields were low, and the berries were small and concentrated. Nevertheless, given the conditions of that summer, this wine did not turn out to be the high-alcohol monster that might have been expected. The Guado al Tasso Superiore 2022 also fits this trend, with ripe fruit on the palate and rich tannins in the background.
