Wines from Immortal

Immortal

Immortal Estate aims to produce wines that are virtually immortal. A jellyfish is depicted on the winery's logo. This is the jellyfish, the only immortal creature on Earth. This jellyfish is able to reset itself and transform back again. This is how the jellyfish starts a new life.

The Immortal Estate vineyards are located between the towns of Santa Rosa (Sonoma Valley) and St. Helena (Napa Valley). The total planting takes up about twenty hectares, 90% of which consists of Cabernet Sauvignon. The rest is planted with Petit Verdot and Chardonnay. One plot has a steepness of no less than 55%. This makes working the vines very labor intensive.

The winery used to go through life with the name Hidden Ridge, but the new owners have renamed the domain Immortal Estate. In 2004, Tim Martin, together with his business partner Mark Wiegard, started his own marketing company for luxury brands. This company lead to the wish to set up a large and luxurious wine brand. This wish became reality after they took over the old Hidden Ridge Vineyards.

After manual harvesting, the bunches are destemmed, and fermented in stainless steel tanks. The skin soak lasts 30 to 50 days. The Impassable Mountain Reserve is made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon and matures for 28 months in 75% new French oak. Their second wine is the Slope blend, which consists mainly of Cabernet Sauvignon, supplemented with Petit Verdot. This wine is also aged for 28 months in 75% new oak.

In 2016, the 2013 Impassable Mountain Reserve achieved 100 Parker Points. The best vintages are: 2013, 2015 and 2016.
