In 1987 Carmen Daurella and Mario Rotllant arrived in La Rioja and started Bodegas Roda with the goal of revolutionizing the vine and wine industry in Rioja.
The facilities in the winery were tailored to meet the specific requirements of Roda wines, with the number of vats adjusted to match the chosen vineyards in each vintage, a bioclimatic room and two aging rooms bored directly into the rock.
Roda controls approximately 20 vine parcels in the best ecosystems in the region, and only the best ones are vinified each year. Vinification is done in French oak vats with temperature control, and the aging process is completed entirely in French oak barrels.
Roda uses old vines to give its wines exceptional qualities, with Tempranillo, Graciano, and Garnacha as the selected grapes. The vineyards are trained in the classic Riojan "bush vine" formation.
Sustainable farming practices are employed, avoiding chemical synthesis products and prioritizing the utmost respect for natural processes and cycles.
Harvesting is done manually in Roda in 18-kilo crates.
The Rioja wines of Roda are produced under the label Roda: Roda, Roda I, Roda Sela and the topcuvee Roda Cirsion, which scores 94+ points (Parker, James Suckling). The Corimbo wines are produced from vineyards in Ribera del Duero.
