The nose of the 2020 Roda shows the textbook profile they look for—red fruit. It's clean, fresh and expressive, elegant and balanced with power and clout, good ripeness (14.5% alcohol) but without excess and with balancing freshness. It follows the house style of modern, clean and balanced wines with integrated oak. Serious Rioja. It was produced with a blend of 89% Tempranillo, 6% Garnacha and 5% Graciano matured in French oak barrels for 14 months.
The 2020 Roda is 89% Tempranillo, 6% Garnacha and 5% Graciano sourced mostly in Haro, Rioja Alta. Aged 14 months in French oak barrels (50% new), this dark garnet wine unfolds with cherry, vanilla, wild herbs, balsamic and hints of caramel. Rich, plush and velvety, the palate offers mild, fine-grained tannins and lingers long on black fruit tones. This is a New World Rioja with a compact flow.
Aromas of violets, black mushrooms and blue fruits, with some spices like nutmeg, as well as dried meat. Some chocolate and cedar. It's full-bodied and layered with round tannins and a juicy finish. Velvety texture and a savory aftertaste.
