Delamotte
The village of Le Mesnil-sur-Oger in the Côte de Blanc has been home to champagne house Delamotte since 1760. This puts Delamotte among the five oldest wineries in Champagne. At the time, the champagne house was founded by François Delamotte, after which his two sons took over from him. But in 1927, the winery was taken over by the Nonacourt family. Decades after the takeover, Bernard de Nonacourt founded the Laurent-Perrier group and also bought the renowned Maison Champagne Salon. Since then, the two champagne houses have been inseparable and share the same winemakers.
The fruit comes from the villages of Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Avize, Cramant and Oger. All vineyards have grand cru status. They work mainly with chardonnay and in small quantities with pinot noir and pinot meunier. Pinot noir bunches, incidentally, come from Ambonnay, Bouzy and Tours-sur-Marne. The southern exposure, rolling slopes and rich limestone soil make for very good quality grapes. In addition, the vineyards are maintained as naturally as possible.
Delamotte produces four different champagnes, including two Blanc de Blancs, one Brut and one rosé. To keep their elegant and mineral character, the wines are fermented and aged in stainless steel tanks. The champagnes then undergo a sur lie maturation of at least four years. You will recognise the champagnes by their freshness and pure character.
For over 250 years, Delamotte has had a prestigious reputation and its champagnes are highly appreciated worldwide. The champagne house's motto is not for nothing: Vive et Ma Ama (live and love me).
