Only 4,831 bottles were produced from the 2015 harvest, all of which came from the 1.8-hectare Grand Cru monopole that gave this Pinot Noir wine its name. Romanée-Conti 2015 is a red Burgundy from the Côte de Nuits, made by Domaine de la Romanée Conti.
The estate's roots reach back to the Middle Ages, when monks from Saint-Vivant Abbey cultivated these Côte de Nuits slopes.
Because flowering occurred early and progressed very rapidly, the 2015 grapes were able to ripen perfectly and uniformly without becoming overripe. The winter was mild, with a low of -6°C recorded around 12 February, accompanied by heavy rain. The harvest took place on 10 September, with a yield of 22 hl/ha.
It is recommended to decant this wine when drinking it young. It is best enjoyed between 2028 and 2050.

The 2015 Romanée-Conti Grand Cru is one of the pinnacles of this great red Burgundy vintage, opening in the glass to reveal a bouquet of kaleidoscopic complexity, notes of raspberry and red plum mingling with rose petal, peony, blood orange and spice. On the palate, the wine is silky, medium to full-bodied and stunningly complete, its supremely elegant tannins entirely cloaked in pristinely delicate red fruit. Despite its incredible concentration and persistence, this Romanée-Conti is utterly weightless, and its effortless harmony and unremitting finish preclude any argument about its benchmark quality. Cropped at 22 hectoliters per hectare and harvested September 10.

Persistent and balanced in a way that is quite remarkable, keeping the tannin and acid interlinked right through to the very last echo of flavour. Incredible persistence that keeps delivering flavour. A triumph, combining the excellence of producer, vintage and site in a way that truly deserves the legendary label.

The 2015 Romanée-Conti rand Cru was picked at 22.65hl/ha on 10 September. This is almost dichotomous to the La Tâche: feminine, sensual, pure with perfumed red cherries, wild strawberry, crushed limestone and rose petals that are all exquisitely defined. These aromatics? They seem to sing to you. The palate is medium-bodied with filigree tannin that render this so poised and precise, yet simultaneously deep and quite powerful. In a sense, it is more like a La Tâche in style, a Romanée-Conti that seeks to assert its authority from day one. There is wonderful cohesion and harmony here, an effortless quality that distinguishes this historic vineyard. There is no doubt in my mind that this is a bona fide classic Romanée-Conti, one of the finest that I have tasted in over two decades attending this same tasting in bottle.

Sometimes, try as I might, words fail to communicate adequately those few transcendent experiences where a wine is just so amazing that it's impossible to capture it. The 2015 Romanée-Conti would be one of those experiences so you will simply have to accept the limitations of the written word. The breathtakingly beautiful nose is restrained to the point of being almost mute yet aggressive agitation eventually reveals an exotically broad-range of highly perfumed floral, spice, tea and incense-like nuances. The opulently textured, concentrated and equally mineral-driven flavors accentuate the perfumed character of the nose as the inner mouth perfume just adds to the what is roughly akin to an sensorial assault, all wrapped in a finish that lasted for seemingly several days as I had no trouble recalling it over the next 48 hours. If there's any imperfection that I could detect, there is a hint of warmth but otherwise, this is pretty close to perfect. The word spectacular comes to mind but then again so does brilliant, fabulous and splendid. You get the idea, pretty damn remarkable.

Extremely multi-faceted dark berryish bouquet, including raspberries, essence of violets, some rose oil, mineral-accented candied grapefruit zest, shows the fascinating aromas of a young but top Pinot Noir. Juicy and complex, ripe cherries, silky fruit expression, ripe, perfectly integrated tannins. Full of finesse, with a fine and almost weightless structure. Endowed with great length and freshness, inimitable in style, a noble wine of world class.
