Subtly spicy and rather reserved aromatically, revealing wondrously complex earthy red fruit aromas and medium weight, moderately structured yet remarkably powerful, muscular flavors of outstanding depth with an explosive finish that lasts and lasts. In particular, the balance is absolutely impeccable and 2002 is perhaps the most impressive cask sample of this wine I have ever tasted chez Gelin. In short, this wine has the "wow" factor and given the price that it sells for relative to the alternatives, definitely one to buy.
