The 2016 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru is a blend of Les Cras and Les Feusselottes, matured in around 55% new oak. It has a slightly more earthy, tobacco-tinged bouquet that opens nicely in the glass, though perhaps never quite slips into fifth gear. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, silky smooth in texture with a slightly gourmand finish. Despite the aromatics being rather taciturn at the moment, this would be my pick from the negoçiant arm of Méo-Camuzet this year.
