Light green tint. Some power to this but the detail is hidden. The majesty wakes up slowly in the glass, waves of fruit, a fair acidity, some power too, eau de vie de poire Williams aromatics, very long finish. There is a lot happening here but perhaps just short of the true majesty of Montrachet.
Ponsot purchases must for his white wine production and does the fermentations himself in used casks, without further additions, and the wine is matured without racking until it is bottled. It is rare to have Montrachet with this degree of purity to the fruit, with intense notes of white peach and green apple, suffused with hints of mineral and fresh white flowers. The texture is very fresh but not lacking in concentration or body, and the length is impressive.
