8 different 1ers crus make up this wine. Laurent does not do much with reds from the southern half of the Côte, but he noted how much enjoyment he was getting whenever he selected a Beaune in a restaurant. Pink-red colour, attractive with a lovely, lifted nose, the floral side of raspberry. This is full of energy with lively acidity, a slightly drier finish but still with this pure graceful fruit. Good result.
Overripe cherry fruit. Fleshy mouthfeel, with chalky tannins and medium body. Falls between the styles of their Gevrey (bold) and Chambolle (floral) and as a result is either the best of both worlds or neither one nor the other, depending on your preference. There’s excellent fruit definition but it seems to lack the personality of his other crus. (RH)
