he 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin Clos Prieur Bas unwinds in the glass with aromas of sweet berries and cherries mingled with warm spices, licorice and peonies. Medium to full-bodied, velvety and fleshy, with powdery tannins and an elegantly muscular profile, it shows considerable promise for the cellar.
An elegant, very cool and restrained blend is comprised by notes of red and dark pinot fruit, warm earth, underbrush and a whiff of the sauvage. There is outstanding volume to the overtly mineral-driven middle weight flavors that possess terrific punch before concluding in a balanced, high complex and beautifully persistent finish. Villages level Gevrey doesn't get much better.
