Tasted blind, the 2015 Echézeaux Grand Cru is quite closed and inscrutable right now, unfurling with aeration to reveal aromas of rich espresso roast, dark chocolate, wild berries and grilled squab. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, firm and structured, its ample chassis of fine but firm structuring tannin rendering the wine hard to read. I suspect this score will prove decidedly conservative once this Echézeaux has spent a few more years in the cellar.
Cask sample. Real energy and class on the nose. Very appetising and sleek with great drive and balance. Lovely stuff. Very refined. Long.
