The 2011 Gevrey-Chambertin Village has a complex bouquet: deep broody dark fruit, cold flint, undergrowth, hints of wild mushroom furnishing the aromatics. The palate is silky smooth with supple tannins, perfectly pitched acidity and a sensual, smooth raspberry and wild strawberry finish that is more like a 2012 than 2011. This is just divine – one of the best village crus you will track down in this vintage.
Real complexity on the nose. Mossy and autumnal. But relatively light and fresh and fruity on the palate. Because the wine is quite light, the acidity seems quite marked. Racy and easy on the palate, although I expect it will take on weight.
