80-year-old vines between Volnay 1er Cru Les Pitures and Pommard 1er Cru Les Rugiens-Haut.
Mid crimson but lighter in colour than the Volnay Taille Pieds. Gently inviting and fragrant aroma: subtle dark-red fruits, no unwanted sweetness and just a hint of oak spice. On the palate, the tannins are dry but really lithe and supple, and there's a sweetness on the mid palate that is like vanilla but doesn't taste as if it comes from the oak. Dry finesse and impressive length. A subtle Pommard with real finesse in its structure and just enough freshness. (JH)
