Jancis Robinson (16.50)

Tank sample. Mid crimson. Benchmark Morey nose that brings together slightly floral red fruit and a touch of peppery spice, all delicate and present. Tannins are elegant, if more chalky than silky at the moment.

The Sigauts' 0.34ha share of this mid-village premier cru has an average age of 45 years and it shows in the concentration and ageing potential of the resulting wine. The soils are red and stony here, producing a Pinot Noir with plushness, density and underlying acidity and freshness. 30% new wood adds another layer of complexity.

Burghound (91)

Aromatically this closely resembles the Noirots with its liqueur-like aromas of plum, mocha and gentle wood influence. The mouthfeel of the medium-bodied flavors is similar as well with its exceptionally rich and caressing aspects where the finish also reflects lightly mineral and cherry pit nuances though without the warmth. At least some patience is suggested as this will certainly age but it's not so structured that it couldn't be enjoyed young.

Robert Parker (90)

The 2017 Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru Les Millandes wafts from the glass with aromas of cherries, raspberries, rose petal, dried flowers and raw cocoa. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, satiny and vibrant, displaying more vitality than Les Charrières, with fine-grained chalky structure that only asserts itself on the finish.
