The 2015 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru did not quite convey the same harmony and delineation as the Lavaux St Jacques when I tasted it from barrel. It comes across as being rather sultry, a little bolshie. The palate is medium-bodied and angular on the entry with tart red cherry fruit, although it gains more cohesion towards the second half and there is a lovely, pastille-like purity that lingers in the mouth. A bit of a rough diamond now, I suspect it will improve with bottle age.
