Winespectator (95)

Rich and smoky, with ample flesh, sweet, ripe black cherry and blackberry fruit and well-integrated spicy oak notes, all underlined by a vein of mineral, lingering nicely. All the components are present in the right proportions, but this needs time.

Jancis Robinson (17.50)

100% new oak. Barrel sample – already racked from barrel to barrel.
Subdued on the nose only hinting at fresh black fruit and a light smoky oak note. A nice dustiness too. All savoury and dark as it opens. Dark-hearted on the palate, black fruit and rocky mineral thread through the middle. Elegantly scented on the mid palate and then tightening up on the finish to chalky dry texture and freshness. A long way to go for the tannins to set the fruit free. (JH)

Jasper Morris (96)

Rich noble colour, intense and satisfying, the nobility continues on to the nose. This has all the sublime grace that a young Clos de Bèze should have, dances on the palate, does not put itself forward too much, falling just on the red side of the cusp between red and black fruit. Quite complex detail to the fruit though, a perfect balancing acidity, and very fine persistence.
