Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting, Jobard's 2014 Meursault 1er Cru Genevrières has a fresh, quite detailed bouquet—very expressive with hints of dried honey, walnut and smoke once it gets past the sulfur. This is nuanced at first but gains intensity in the glass. The palate is fresh and vibrant on the entry, detailed and generous with hints of dried pineapple, red apple and walnut, long and tender on the finish. It takes a while to get its act together...but it does (eventually).
