The 2021 du Tertre has turned out well in bottle, offering up aromas of dark, minty berries, pipe tobacco, orange zest and pencil shavings, followed by a medium-bodied, supple and suave palate built around velvety tannins and bright acids. This Cabernet-dominant blend represents a strong effort for this property, no doubt helped by the brave decision to sell off one-third of the production in bulk.
Fresh, poised but demure on the nose with upscale oak rendering a fine note of cigar box and tobacco to the cool cassis, tapenade and grilled red capsicums. Very well-balanced on the palate with a juicy medium body and a tight but layered finish. Refined and long. Well-done for the vintage. Already approachable, but better from 2025.
Dark crimson. Intense, rather glamorous nose. Rich and silky-smooth. Quite seductive and none of the café-crème (oak?) notes that this wine used to have. Good combination of intensity and refreshment. Very long. Quite a success! Even if it comes to a rather sudden halt. Medium tannic grip on the end.
