The 2009 Chambolle-Musigny Les Amoureuses is wonderfully sweet, centered and polished. Silky tannins grace the palate as this exquisite wine opens up in the glass. The finish remains long, sweet and totally impeccable. The Amoureuses is always one of my favorites here, and the 2009 is gorgeous. Drouhin used 30% whole clusters.
Medium red with a palish rim. Wonderfully floral on the nose, with captivating aromas of red raspberry, cherry, white pepper and rose. Silky and complex on entry, with a strong crushed stone character, then taut and vibrant in the middle, with terrific definition for the year. Finishes very long and lively. This really transcends the vintage.
A distinctly ripe yet reasonably fresh nose freely reveals its aromas of wonderfully spicy, violet, cassis and plum aromas that complement the extremely rich yet still precise mineral-driven flavors that brim with dry extract and culminate in an elegant, pure and driving finish where the only nit is a touch of warmth. This is quite classy and for my taste, it has reached its apogee. (Drink starting 2023)
