The David & Nadia 2023 Swartland Rondevlei Chenin Blanc shows a bright citrusy character with navel orange and tangerine at the top. Those carefully subside to reveal crushed seashell, wild oats and dried garden herb. I love the wine's sharply etched mineral signature that transcends the nose and the mid-palate. This is a limited release of 999 bottles. The mouthfeel is softened by waxy sensations, pithy fruit fiber and crunchy apple. This is a beauty.

A creamy, minerally and full-bodied chenin blanc that has notes of apricots, apples, clay and honeydew melon. Very subtle hints of honeysuckle. It’s full-bodied and textured but with coolness on a long, persistent finish. Only 999 bottles produced.

The 2023 Chenin Blanc Rondevlei comes from vines planted in 1984 on deep sandy soils with irony deposits, with about 40% raised in concrete eggs. This has a captivating bouquet with scents of yellow plum, egg whites and almond, moving to nuttier aromas with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with a crisp, understated entry. Very linear and strict in style, this is definitely about texture rather than obvious fruit flavors, finishing with a liberal sprinkling of white pepper and ginger. Give this a couple of years in bottle.
