Robert Parker (92)

Tasted as a barrel sample in April and in June, the 2015 Grüner Veltliner Supperin Dürnstein is a rich and and intense, fruit-driven and piquant Veltliner with a pure, refreshing and vivacious character. Good salinity and grip.

Vinous (92)

This had only just finished malolactic conversion when I last tasted it, so Erich Krutzler had to cautiously draw my sample from the very top of the tank to avoid suspended matter. The grapes were pressed whole-cluster but some stems were then tossed into the ferment. This is palpably extract-rich and texturally caressing, which, combined with bittersweet hazelnut flavor, makes for a superficially Burgundian impression, but not one wanting for primary juiciness. Suggestions of artichoke and white pepper point to the distinctive character of Grüner Veltliner. It finishes impressively, with invigorating sizzle and consummate refreshment – not something one can often claim about a wine this rich.
