The 2014 Bourgogne Rouge was cropped at just 25 hectoliters per hectare this year, one-quarter of the vines will be replanted next spring. It has a delightful, pretty, quite pure bouquet with crushed strawberry and raspberry scents, just a hint of vanilla from the 50% new oak. The palate is light and breezy with fine tannin, and pretty red cherry fruit with a delicate finish.
A wonderfully fresh nose is composed by notes of herbal tea, earth, spice and a pretty range of red berries. There is both good intensity and vibrancy to the attractively textured and solidly concentrated flavors that are refreshing, balanced and persistent. This relatively refined effort should drink well after only a few years of bottle age.
