(92-94)
Rather generously structured in the context of the vintage, the 2024 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru reveals aromas of dark plum, raw cacao, orange peel and spice, mingled with cherry. On the palate, it is medium- to full-bodied, layered and perfumed, with a muscular core and a textural attack, sweet tannins and a long, persistent finish.
100% whole bunch, 70% new oak. Cask sample.
Mid ruby. Quite intense cherry and raspberry nose. Some extra fruit and density as there should be for grand cru but again missing just a little sweetness. Very dry on the palate and finish. Not green-tannin dryness, but certainly dryness without balancing richness of fruit. Matthew Hayes
(92-94)
The 2024 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru has an attractive nose with mainly red fruit tinged with fennel and light minty scents. Fine delineation, though obviously not intense or powerful. The palate is medium-bodied with filigree tannins, just a subtle pepperiness emanating from the whole bunch (though there is slightly less here than Dujac's other cuvées). It is quite focused towards the finish that displays commendable length. This feels stony on the aftertaste with a residual pepperiness.
(91-93)
A discreet application of wood sets off softly spicy, elegant and cool aromas of plum, red and dark berries, exotic tea and a whiff of violet. The vibrant and delicious, if not especially dense, flavors do however possess good volume and focused power on the equally lightly austere finale that is slightly firmer. A few years of cellaring should be quite beneficial here as well.
(91-94)
Bright mid purple. The fruit is a touch softer here. A warm soft strawberry, with just a little pepper at the back. Lightish acidity, fair length. Satisfying, and accessible early, but some of the 1ers Crus will give this a run for its money.
