Saint Aubin Les Castets Blanc 2023 Louis Billard

The 2023 “Saint-Aubin Les Castets Blanc” wine from Louis Billard is the second vintage released under his own brand, and the quality of the white wines has improved significantly in this release. In the Côte de Beaune, after several years of poor harvests, 2023 was a bountiful year, and ripe Chardonnay grapes were harvested while retaining their acidity. The grapes were pressed whole-cluster, fermentation took place in barrels on the lees, and the wine was aged for about a year in oak barrels, a mix of new and used. This is not so much a full-bodied wine as it is a refined and understated wine from Saint-Aubin. A classic style. It can be enjoyed young, but it is also suitable for further aging.
