The year 2024 in the Côte de Nuits proved to be a challenging one for all producers who take special care with the Pinot Noir variety. From spring through harvest, cool and rainy weather put the vineyards through a challenging time, and strict selection was necessary to produce high-quality grapes. At Domaine Tortochot, organic farming, which has been the estate’s hallmark since 2013, took on even greater significance. The old vines used to produce the “Champerrier” cuvée demonstrated in this challenging year the qualities typically associated with old vines, namely, a depth of flavor that is difficult to achieve in younger vineyards. This Gevrey-Chambertin leans more toward a classic style than toward vibrancy. It is characterized by bright notes of red fruit, firm acidity, and the robust, deep flavor of dark fruit typical of this village. This wine is not meant to captivate immediately, but is designed to age in the bottle.
