Following the intense heat of 2022, the 2023 harvest brought Burgundy a bountiful crop, and the Pinot Noir grapes ripened successfully throughout the Côte de Nuits. This wine, made from the harvest of seven rows of old vines at the Clos de Vougeot vineyard (which typically yields about 3 barrels), reflects Chantal Michel-Tortosho’s understated winemaking style. To preserve freshness, about 25% of the grapes are processed as whole clusters; fermentation takes place using natural yeasts; and approximately half of the wine is aged in new barrels. The optimal drinking window is from 2027 to 2038. According to Chantal, this wine could be called the “scholarly brother” among the Tortochot family's Grand Crus.
