Plenty of pine cone, hazelnut and sweet vanilla spices to the minty blackberries and red fruit. Juicy and tight on the palate with a medium to full body and a tightly wound, lengthy finish. Vanilla and coconut at the end. A lot of wood here, but it will come around in a few years after the wood tannins integrate more.
100% Tempranillo. From vineyards in Roa. Clay soil with some sand and gravels. Facing south-west. Fermentation with stems and in an open vat. Aged in used American oak barrels. 5,000 bottles produced.
Tasted blind. A wine clearly influenced by wood. Fresh and minty. Good quality. Engaging dialogue between the wood and well-ripened black fruit that still retains its freshness. Seamless texture, mellow tannins that melt away. In oenological terms, meticulous with lots of detail. A Ribera del Duero that impresses with its freshness and vivacity, emphasising finesse over power. The wine I would like to serve in a restaurant with sophisticated cuisine. 5,000 bottles of absolute delight and showing all the potential of the Roa vineyards in the Golden Mile. (FC)
Wave upon wave of dried herbs, tobacco and redcurrant and blueberry fruit provide interest and intrigue. Decadent and inviting with a succulent leathery texture, a searing tang of acidity and superb belt of velvet tannins.
