In Sauternes, 2010 was marked by dry and warm weather, resulting in one of the most concentrated vintages in Bordeaux over the past ten years. Although botrytis appeared later than in 2009, the process unfolded smoothly, and the cool autumn nights helped preserve the acidity. For “Clos Haut-Peyraguey,” this meant that the Semillon grapes had a very high sugar content, yet retained the necessary freshness that forms the foundation of its structure. One can expect the wine’s style to be more restrained and structured than that of the rounded 2009 vintage. The wine can be cellared until 2040. We consider the 2010 Sauternes vintage to be one of the best among those released since 2000.
Caramel and lots of vanilla and dried apricot in this Sauternes. Full, sweet and well-balanced with deep structure and outstanding length. Lots of Seville orange and honey character
his wine is firm and powerful while also showing sweetness. It's textured and structured, with a zesty, tangy character that also brings out minerality. The palate is ripe with flavors of honey and lemon zest. The wine does need aging.
