Professional reviews

James Suckling (93)

92-93
Dense, rich and chocolaty, with a medium body and ripe, chewy tannins. Generous and well built. Compact finish.

Jancis Robinson (16)

Deep colour. Rich and ripe with dark, almost curranty fruit. Concentrated and taken to the limit, the tannins sandy and firm. Extraction perhaps a little heavy for the vintage?

Vinous (92)

91-93
The 2025 Monbousquet is powerful and explosive in the glass. Crème de cassis, menthol, licorice, plum, pine and spice convey tons of textural intensity and sheer power. This is Monbousquet dialed up to eleven, with copious fruit, huge, sweeping tannins and tons of sheer power.

Jeb Dunnuck (94)

93-95
A big, ripe, sexy, and beautifully textured Saint-Emilion Grand Cru, the 2025 Château Monbousquet comes from the lower plain of Saint-Emilion and has the classic ripe black fruits of this terroir as well as spicy wood, chocolate, and Asian spices. It's rich and full-bodied on the palate, with ripe, polished, beautiful tannins and a great finish.

Falstaff (94)

Deep dark ruby garnet, opaque core, violet reflections, subtle edge brightening. Ripe plum fruit, blackberry confit, some nougat and figs, delicate floral undertones. Complex, juicy, chocolaty texture, good freshness, powerful on the finish, some nougat in the aftertaste, a spicy food companion.
