Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Newton Vineyard tumbles effortlessly out of the glass with notes of plum preserves, baked blackberries and cassis, with an undercurrent of charcuterie, black olives and dried herbs. Full-bodied, firmly structured and concentrated, the abundant black fruit flavors are accented with plenty of savory nuances, and the finish is very long.
This is densely layered with black currant and fig reduction flavors at the core, wrapped in apple wood smoked bacon, warm tar and baker's chocolate and backed by flashes of zesty sweet bay leaf and chaparral. Moves slowly but steadily through the finish. Shows more oomph than purity, but all the pieces are there.
A ripe and succulent red with notes of blackberries and plums, dark chocolate and wet forest floor. A touch of eucalyptus, too. Full-bodied with layers of plush yet soft and velvety tannins. Delicious fruit and impressive depth. Holding long and even. Muscular with the tannins
The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Newton Vineyard is more grippy and restrained, with perfumed blue fruits, violets, and gravelly earth-like aromatics. Full-bodied on the palate, it has terrific concentration, lots of tannins, and a great finish. However, it needs to be forgotten for a solid 4-5 years if possible.
