Wines from Cerbaiona

Cerbaiona

Cerbaiona was founded by Diego and Nora Molinari in the mid 70's, the first vintage was the 1980 (70 bottles). It located near La Cerbaiola.

The estate spans 3 hectares of vines: half of the vineyards are planted for producing Brunello wines, while the other half consists of grapes for producing wines with appelation Sant'Antimo and IGT Toscana.

The production is ultra-traditional, with fermentation in old cement tanks and ageing in large Slavonian oak barrels. The wines have a enormous ageing potential.

The Brunello di Montalcino wines are rated high in the 90's by amongst others Robert Parker. The Brunello di Montalcino 2010 received 100 points from Antonio Galloni upon release.

In December 2015, Nora and Diego sold Cerbaiona, and the last wine where grapes and vinification were controlled by Molinari was the 2015 vintage. Sadly, Diego passed away on April 2, 2019, and Nora on November 5, 2020, marking the end of their story with Cerbaiona.

The new owners are now running Cerbaiona. The vineyards have been completely replanted, all the barrels have been changed, and fermentation now takes place in steel. As a result, the new wines are from brand new vines and have a completely different character.
