Quite a fluid, easygoing young Barolo with good and fresh red-berry and agrumi notes on the nose and palate. Medium-bodied with firm tannin and a slightly chewy finish for now.
Here's a new submission from Ceretto. The organic 2018 Barolo Rocche di Castiglione has a sweet spot with bright cherry and dried cranberry. The rest of the bouquet is framed by licorice, wildflower and grilled herb. It shows more power on the palate with firm tannins over a mid-weight but long-lasting mouthfeel.
Castiglione Falletto. Although Ceretto have rented this plot for years, this is the first year they have bottled grapes under this this cru's prestigious name.
Just mid ruby. Spectacular fragrant and ripe at the same time. Deep raspberry nose with hints of cinnamon and eucalyptus. A little backward on the palate but with energetic acidity and finely ground lively tannins. Real pedigree. Long and with gorgeous chew on the finish. (WS)
Funkelndes Rubin-Granat, etwas heller Rand.
