Textured, powerful, and concentrated is the 1998 Barolo Colonnello. Offering aromas and flavors of roasted coffee, new saddle leather, black cherry jam, underbrush, earth, and spice box, this tightly-structured, full-bodied, dense, impressively-extracted wine needs cellaring.

Vinous (94)

Deep red. Enticingly fresh, floral aromas of plum and cherry. Dense but juicy, with a chewy texture and bright framing acids. Already offers compelling inner-mouth aromas of cherry, crystallized berries and marzipan. Finishes with firm yet lush tannins and superb persistence. Suave and fat but with terrific verve-in the style of the best '98s.
