JR: A wine that breaks with every convention: high alcohol by volume, noticeable RS and carbonic prickle from what looks like a slow but continuous fermentation in the bottle. And yet this is amazingly pure and focused and still seems embryonic. Impenetrable, blackish violet crimson. Crushed, sweet back forest fruit with a hugely attractive VA lift that’s not hard or acrid. Purity and focus reminiscent of Barbera but even more of a heady mixture of artisan Lambrusco without the sparkle and 'still' Gutturnio. Fresh, concentrated and deep forest fruit and blackberry palate with long satin tannins clinging to the palate. Beautifully balanced. There is noticeable RS but this is still so very young. A relic from another time.
