The vineyard's well-drained stony soils are made up of chalky topsoil on a rocky basis, with less clay and drier limestone in higher parts. Because of its modest slope changes the vines face somewhat north of east, limiting their exposure to morning sunlight. This produces crisper lighter wines that are best appreciated young as opposed to the strong wines from neighbouring vineyards.
