Succulent red fruit, almost syrupy on the nose. Plenty of sweet spices. If this isn’t oaked, it’s doing an uncanny impression of it. Finely ground tannin that gives quite a lot of chew. The finish is surprisingly intense and powerful after a reasonably straightforward palate, with a hint of smoke. (RH)
Jasper Morris MW: ‘Cuvée du Cyprès’. Fresh purple, this is a graceful and charming wine just as Charmes could be with a fruit that soars at the back of the palate, mixing in very well with its oak. Just a faint point of acidity.
