The 2009 Morey St. Denis En la Rue de Vergy emerges from the glass with expressive fruit. The French oak adds a measure of textural richness and body. There is a focus and energy to the fruit I find particularly attractive, although I would choose to give this at least a few more months in bottle for the oak to better integrate.
?A discreet touch of wood sets off the pretty, restrained and cool red pinot fruit and wet stone nose that gracefully introduces delicious but less obviously ripe mineral-driven flavors that are shaped and given focus by the moderately firm tannins on the balanced and linear finish. This high-quality villages should repay handsomely 5 to 7 years of cellar time.
