Opening with notes of pear, white flowers, wheat toast and struck match, Pierre-Yves Colin's 2018 Chassagne-Montrachet Vieilles Vignes is medium to full-bodied, layered and textural, with a tightly wound core, incisive acids and superb mid-palate amplitude. In a vintage that can be a touch diffuse at other addresses, this is a great success at the communal level.
Puligny side. Clear pale lemon colour. The nose is typically refined but not too reductive. Stylish, lemony, long, pure fresh apple, no more than medium bodied, but more in persistence and charm.
