The 2013 Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru, which comes from 0.406-hectares of about 42-year-old vines, is an “absolute killer” (not a technical term, but you know what I mean.) It has showstopping intensity on the nose with mineral-infused citrus fruit – a bouquet determined to put a gap between it and the premier crus. The palate is extremely well balanced, with an almost Oriental-like ripeness (Japanese yuzu perhaps?) This is an extravagant Chevalier-Montrachet – beautifully balanced with a really long, marmalade-tinged finish that is utterly glorious.
