The 1985 is a very good Sauternes for the vintage - rich, round, open-knit, with a great deal of juicy, sweet, candied fruit - but the absence of botrytis results in a wine lacking in complexity and coming across as plump and succulent, but not terribly interesting.
Pretty yellow straw color, elegant style with honey and buttery flavors that are of medium depth. Has some richness and length, finishing with a buttery, brown sugar flavor and honey.
Rene Gabriel rates this wine 17/20 points.
