Tasted at the Doisy-Védrines vertical at the château, the 1983 Château Doisy-Védrines has a clear golden colour. The nose is rather simple with barley sugar, a touch of mandarin and orange liqueur. It just lacks some definition. The palate is medium-bodied, a slight bitter edge on the entry spoiling what are some attractive honeyed, apricot-tinged fruit. It is a little lean toward the finish but I probably would opt for this over the 1986. Quite smooth and harmonious on the tangy orange and apricot-tinged finish.
